Starting on May 18th 2026, the group has been taking weekly water samples from the shore at Tighnabruaich and Kames. These are despatched to a laboratory in Manchester for analysis for total faecal coliform, enterococci and E. coli.

Results so far are very encouraging, with most samples falling into the ‘excellent’ category (as defined by SEPA). Only three results to date (September 2026) have been ‘poor’ or ‘unsatisfactory’, where swimming is not advised.
